2012, April 17 - Senai, Johor - George Loong, the general manager of the Le Grandeur hotel at Palm Resort boasts of 50 years of hotel experience, most of which were spent with the Merlin Group, Micasa Hotel Apartment and the Hotel Grand Continental Kuala Terenganu.
"After a Three year stint at the Metro Kajang, I retired; then rounded golf courses for six months. You can say hotel life is in my blood. I needed to get back," said Loong.
Loong joined the Le Grandeur in February 2011 to oversee the running of the hotel, after eight and half years with the hotel Grand Continental in Kuala Terenganu.
He started as a trainee with the Kuala Lumpur Merlin in 1960. After seven years, he was transferred to the Merlin in Cameron Highland to become Hotel Manager. He Then ventured to the east coast to gain pre-opening experience with the Kuantan Merlin, a beach hotel where he was the General Manager for 10 years. In 1982, Loong was transferred to the Merlin in Penang and then to move south two years later to open the Merlin in Malacca. A further two years and the Merlin group saw Loong moving to their hotel in Sydney where he was the General Manager for two years. He returned to Malaysia and was attached to Kedah and Subang Merlin hotels.
" I had wonderful years of working in the hotel business and i hope to be able to contribute my experience to the Le Grandeur brand into the market for awareness," said Loong.
When asked about his vision for the Le Grandeur here, Loong hopes to place the new hotel brand name in the local hospitality map and to create greater awareness of what the brand represents. The
